Why hello again,
So, english again? Yup, why? I dunno, if anyone likes it better in spanish let me know, the post from yesterday felt a little bit more... natural.
Well, today I'm gonna be talking a bit about a game that I've been playing for about 5 hours, I haven't finished it yet and it's not a new game or anything, but I've really been enjoying it.
The game's name, as you might already figured out is Dust-An Elysian Tail. It is a platformer 2D game with some 3D and particle effects in which you take control of Dust, a blueish fox/furry thingy that wakes up one day in the woods not remembering anything about who he is or how he got there. He's awakened by this weird flying-talking sword called Ahrah who tells him a thing or two about how he must find his destiny and all that kind of stuff. Not much later another party member joins, this one's called Fidget and it's a...cat? I would say, with bat wings and cangaroo tail.

Fidget says the sword belongs to her people and wants to take it back to which Dust replies he needs the sword to find out who he is.
From there, the story develops but I won't be talking about it, let's switch out to the gameplay.
Since I started the game I've been playing it with an Xbox controller, it just feels better to me to play platformers with controllers, and overall it's been a good experience, the controls themselves are responsive and fluid and not hard to get used to.
One thing though that really grinds my gears is the moving speed of Dust, you see, when you're fighting you can do all sort of crazy techinques and the game feels fast paced and it's awesome! But, when you're outside of battle the moving speed of the blueish hero is really annoying! Like I said I haven't finished the game yet and I'm still hoping there will be a way further in that allows you to actually run when not battling...Still being 5 hours into a game and having to basically WALK everywhere when you're not slicing monsters is quite a drag.
Walking speed is a nuisance |
Anyway, just to dig a little bit more into battle that's an aspect of the game that I really liked a lot, the combos and moves you can make are all pretty fun and the screen gets filled out with particles of explosions and attacks during almost any battle making it a rewarding experience at least for me. You learn some basic moves that you can perform with Dust and then there's Fidget who also helps by firing this "projectiles" that don't do much by themselves but once you combine them with Dust moves you can turn the screen into a mess and begin massing up combos, the larger the combo the more exp you get from the battle, however if you get hit during a combo the whole chain will break and of course you will not get the exp from it.
Experience will get you levels, and levels will get you gems which in turn you can use to ...levelup... your stats. Aaaand of course you have your inventory with a slot for a quick item to be used during battles (usually healing items) and slots for equipment, armor, accesories, etc...Also you can collect crafting items and blueprints which can be forged by blacksmiths inside the game to get better equipment and items.
Last but not least I'd like to tell you about the dialogues in this game as the characters are voiced.
Fidget again! |
THEY ARE GREAT.
It probably is the part that I've enjoyed the most out of the game mainly because the scripts are spontaneous and casual and funny and the voice acting is very very good. Also they make some cool references
In general I'd say the game is a little bit childish as for art design and storyline goes but it's worth playing if you want a cool platformer/beatemup game.
Ok, I think that would be it for now, just a friendly reminder this is NOT supposed to be a full review of the game or anything, please do not take this as a reference of whether the game is good or not as this is merely my opinion of it, if you want an actual review of the game to see if you should buy it or not please google it as I'm sure there are a ton out there made by pro people who does that for a living. Remember I haven't finished it yet.
Allright, that's all then. Have a great day~
